Saturday's Meet

The meet this Saturday (Sept 17th) will have a 10AM start for the FR/SO/JV race and an 11AM start for the varsity race. All runners need to be at the XC course by 8:45AM ... we need extra time to attach micro-chips to our shoes.

Meet time change

Due to the forecast of excessive heat Thursday, the cross country meet start time is being moved from 4:30 to 5:30. The 9/10 and JV divisions will be combined so that the meet will still be finished at the same time.

First Meet & Spaghetti Club

The first meet is in just two days. That means Wednesday is the first spaghetti club. It will take place at the Canon house (1542 Linden) just off East 16th St.

The meet is Thursday at ISU with the 9/10 race scheduled for 4:30. All girls need to be to the course by 3:30.

Week 1 Practices

Practice starts Aug 8th. We will practice Mon-Sat mornings from 6:30-8:30 AM. We will also practice Mon/Wed/Fri afternoons from 3:30-5:00 PM. We look forward to seeing many new faces and welcoming those familiar faces back for another season!

      Your running shoes are one of the top ways to combat injuries. The top shoe store for runners is Fitness Sports located at 7230 University Ave in Des Moines. The employees are trained to fit the correct shoe to your foot and will even let you take the shoe on a test-drive. They may still offer 10% off to high school XC runners.

      Another store with similar features is called Running Room and is located near Jordan Creek Mall on Mills Civic Parkway. They also offer 10% off for Track/XC runners.

      Finally, new to the running shoe scene is Kyle's Bikes in Ankeny. They are the first shoe store in central Iowa to offer video-based gait analysis with a specialist who analyzes your mechanics to get the proper shoe.
